U11 A vs. St Faith’s, Wedesday 16th May 2012
Felsted lost by 10 runs
The U11 A team finally got to play their first match of the season on Wednesday and came up against a strong and organised team from St Faith’s. St Faith's won the toss and chose to bat first. Felsted started well getting their first wicket for just 7 runs but after this St Faith’s steadied into their batting and clock up a good score of 111 for 4. Well done to Robbie, Owen, Ollie Butler and David all of whom took a wicket off their bowling.
Felsted went into bat with Robbie (25) and Barnaby (10) getting a good pace and running well between the wickets. The run rate then started to slow and even with Owen hitting a good number of 4s the singles just weren't being run often enough. With 2 overs to go Felsted needed 33 runs and some excellent batting from Owen (41 not out) and Harry Nicholls (8 not out) meant they got 22 of them and only lost the game by 10 runs. The boys need to remember that there is no time for "just staying in" and that they should always be looking to get those extra couple of runs off each over.
A good start to the season against a very good team.
