St Faith's

Wednesday 15th May

1st XI: Won by 33 runs
Even though Will Buttleman lost the toss, St Faith's put us into bat on a damp and slow pitch. Playing a shorter game (20 overs) than normal, the openers batted sensibly and steadily scoring at just over 4 an over for the first 7 overs. A brief lull for 4 overs, where we only scored 3 runs, meant that by half way through our innings we had scored 40 for 1. When Will Buttleman (61) and Tom Hitchcock (61 no) came together the run rate increased with some strong hitting of the bad ball. We eventually posted a decent total of 134 from 20 overs.

The St Faith's batting line up tried to score steadily and got away to a reasonable start, scoring at 7 runs an over. However some tight accurate bowling caused problems and wickets started to fall. Our catching was 100% when chances came our way, with Harry Sturge taking 3 catches behind the stumps! St Faith's fell behind the required run rate and eventually were all out for 102.
Not a particularly pleasant afternoon weather wise!!!

2nd XI
St Faith's batted first scoring 128 runs off their 20 overs. Solid bowling from Jonny H, Owen T and Harvey M. Felsted came into bat and started well but the runs did not come quick enough and we finished our 20 overs 32 runs short. Well batted to Cameron C 24 and Harry N 39 not out.

3rd XI
After winning the toss Felsted elected to bat. A promising start from Cochrane and Guild quickly fell apart as batsmen threw their wickets away with a series of poor shots. Stonham made runs again and was supported well by Barker, but a total of 109 was very disappointing.

Rowe, Dane and Gallian all bowled well, but it was Conlon who took 4 wickets. Their No 3 batsman should have been caught early on and it was a relief when he was finally out. St Faith's needed 8 runs to win off the last two overs with the last pair at the crease. A snick to the keeper off the bowling of Rowe gave Stonham his third catch and Felsted an unlikely win by 8 runs.
