Orwell Park

1st XI
This proved to be a very entertaining and competitive game of cricket.
Having lost the toss Orwell Park decided to bat first and posted a good total with some good attacking batting. We had to score 162 from 25 overs which meant scoring at  just over 6 runs per over. With Will Buttleman and Harry Sturge opening we progressed at approximately 5 an over which provided a good solid base. Harry managed to score 25 before he was out. Tom Hitchcock unfortunately didn't get going and dragged the ball onto his stumps. Will continued to bat with ease, picking up runs with a variety of shots, even playing a 'Dilshan' type shot in his impressive 89 not out to secure victory in the last over.
Well done to all.

2nd  XI: Lost by 5 wickets
Felsted batted first scoring 63 runs all out. Orwell took 19 overs to gain the winning runs, losing 5 wickets. A major improvement is needed with our batting.

3rd XI
After losing the toss for the 4th time in 5 matches, Felsted were put into bat on a decent looking wicket. The two openers Max Cochrane and Joe Head batted extremely sensibly and punished the ball when it came along. The score moved on briskly and Cochrane reached his 50 in the 11th over of the game. He went on to make 60, Head 33 and were well supported by Alex Martine 26 not out and Oliver Stonham 25 not out. A total of 156 from 20 overs.

To win the match Orwell would need to start well, and they did. Their openers quickly reached 50 before they lost a wicket and were up with the required run rate. Harry Bridgwater, Tom Gallian, Harry Dane and Johnathan Barber were all going for seven or eight an over and an Orwell win looked possible. Dane clean bowled one of their openers but the other kept scoring freely. Conlon came on to bowl and steadied the nerves, conceding 12 runs from his 4 overs and Felsted were relieved to see Orwell fall 26 runs short of the Felsted total.

U11A
Felsted batted first in a 25 over game at Orwell Park. Losing Toby King to the second ball of the match was not the start Felsted had hoped for.

Scoring from then on was difficult against some very tidy bowling.

Harry Gallian (28 n/o) and David Townsend (25) scoring the bulk of the 87 runs that was always going to be 30 plus runs short of being a decent score. Orwell Park only needed 16 overs to overtake the Felsted total but in doing so lost five wickets. Wickets were taken by Toby King, David Townsend, Harvey Sullivan and Harry Gallian. Fielding was generally good with some good throwing by Oliver Butler and Fergus Wootton, but there is still room for improvement.

U11 B
Orwell put us in to bat: Archie Pritchard (5) and Rory Aitken (31) opened and settled Felsted in well. Dominic Savva faced the best bowl of the day and Oscar Mohan was hit on the hand. Sebastian Martinez-Minnett played some good strokes but put one in the air. Then Nicholas Lawrence (42) and Harry Beaton-Brown (23) came in and increased the run rate with some well timed shots to leg. Number 8 batsman Samuel Winter came in for 2 balls. A total of 145 runs in 20 overs. A tall order for Orwell who made a good start but after 12 overs they had lost their best batsmen bowled by Matthew Hipkin, who bowled a good length and line taking 3 wickets. Gus Burton also bowled very efficiently taking 2 important wickets. Ethan Weatherstone and Samuel Winter bowled later in the game and showed potential. Harry Beaton-Brown kept wicket efficiently taking and stopping the more wayward bowling. Orwell reached 116 for 9 in 20 overs. A very good match which Felsted controlled.

U11C
This was a great performance from the boys and a resounding victory. There had been improvements in batting and bowling since that last game. Pairs cricket seems to suit us as it gives more confidence in the crease. We managed a very respectable 312 (starting on 200 of course as it was pairs). As a team we were only out twice and there were some very strong innings. Then Orwell batted and some tight fielding as well as solid bowling meant that they only managed 269. We also managed to get them out four times. A good effort from an improving team.
