Haileybury

Saturday 27th April

!st XI: Won by 74 runs
Having won the toss we elected to bat first. Playing positively the openers of Will Buttleman (55) and Boomer Entwistle (9) started well both playing attacking shots. The score steadily mounted as each batsman contributed to the end total of 172 from 30 overs - Tom Walker (20), Robbie MacLennan (26), Harry Sturge (26) and Nancy Hebron (14).
Barnardiston started quickly, scoring well above the required run rate. Once we had broken through we started to take regular wickets through some accurate bowling and good catching. Wicket takers were Will Buttleman (4), Tom Hitchcock (3) and Nancy Hebron (2). A good team performance.

2nd  XI: Won by 122 runs
Felsted put into bat scoring quickly to reach 174 for 4, top batsmen Owen Thomas 30 not out, Harry Raffan 29 not out. Barnardiston reached 52 all out. Wickets from Peter Hipkin 4 overs 15 runs for 3, Harvey Moor 3 overs 5 runs for 4.

U11 A XI:Won by 50 runs
Barnardiston Hall were the visitors to Felsted in which a game of 25 overs a side was played.
Felsted won the toss, and elected to bat. Townsend and Gallian opened the batting and put on 39 runs before Townsend was caught out. Bird came in at number 3 and scored 30, which included a fine 6 pulled over mid-wicket. When he was out a mini collapse ensued with 3 out of the next 5 batsmen losing their wickets for no runs. Gallian making only his second appearance scored his maiden 50 and helped at the end by Aitken, they pushed the score to 160 off 25 overs.

In reply Barnardiston Hall made 110 for 6 off their 25 overs. O'Connor with 3 wickets and Townsend with 2 were the pick of the bowlers.

38 extras were conceded by the Felsted bowlers, mostly in wides and this is an aspect of the game that needs improvement.
All in all a good result- but plenty to work on.

Felsted  160 for 8 off  25 overs
Barnardiston Hall  110 for 6 off 25overs
Felsted won by 50 runs

U11 B
Barnardiston put us into bat and Felsted reached 128 for 3 in 20 overs. The batsmen were always turning the runs over or more often their bowlers helped us along with many wides and no balls. Highest score was 20 by Luke Mulley.

Barnardiston came in to bat. Our bowlers did a varied job: Leslie Squibb got two wickets in a row, bowled middle stump then could not find a line and length again, Felix Webster was the most accurate bowler only giving away 10 run in 24 balls including his wides and no balls, Gus Burton also bowled accurately with a maiden over. Barnardiston reached 102 runs all out.

Well done to the fielders keeping alert although we will need to have some catching practice.
